What personal data we collect and why
Comments
When visitors leave comments on our site we collect the data shown in the comments form. As well as, the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. This service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of the comment you left on the website.
Cookies
When you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. This is for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts them. This cookie contains zero personal data and will be discarded when your browser is closed.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will remain for 2 weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
When you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (images, videos, blogs, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
Media
When you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold that pertains to you. You can also request that we erase personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments will be checked through an automated spam detection service. No information is shared with a third party unless it pertains to travel needs and necessary for travel purposes.
Third-party Links
Our website may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins, and applications. Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We have no control of these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy statements. When you leave our website, we urge you to read privacy policies of every website you visit.
It is extremely important that we keep your personal information current as it pertains to your travel. Please notify us if you have a update in personal data during your travels with us.
Marketing Practices
We collect your data at times so we can form a view on what we think you may want or need, or what may interest you. With this collected information we decide which products, services and offers are potentially relevant to you.
We keep you up to date on the new product, sales and important information we feel would be of interest to you. We only contact you if:
- You signed up to receive marketing from us and have not later opted out.
- You have made a past booking with us and have not told us that you no longer wish to hear from us.
What third parties we receive data from:
We never pass along your information to other parties for marketing purposes unless you have agreed to let us do so. Also, we never share information or even asked if we could share information.
We do use third-party systems to send out our own email marketing and surveys. However, these companies do not have the right to send unrelated marketing to you ever.
